Recording

‘My lovely’ is a song written in the key of G major. I started this song by recording a voice note on my phone, just me and my guitar. The song came out in its entirety in around 5 minutes. Just looping the simple chord progression over I felt what I needed to say. I felt a deep connection to the lyrics and the melody and allowed it to flow through me. What took me back was the progression in my singing technique and vocal delivery. The first demo was from July 2022, the next demo was created in April 2024. I have been studying jazz every day since then, and hearing how jazz singers phrase and flow with their melodies, inspired me to develop my singing.

Lyrics

Maybe one day I’ll come home

feel myself with alcohol

It’s a friend I have always needed

Maybe one day you’ll come home

And I can smile the way I would

When you came home through the door

That sunny July day, My lovely

My lovely

My love

My lovely

My love

Maybe one day I’ll be home

Smiling faces all I know

Then you wonder, wonder, wonder why

It just hurts me all again

You’re hurting yourself again

You keep on wings of a friend

But the wing of a friend

Can’t hold you from falling again

Maybe one day I’ll come home

I feel myself with alcohol

It’s a friend I have always needed
