Immediately upon hearing Glasgow artist Jack Gault’s music, one is struck by the warm and evocative soundscape. Soul is an essential element in Jack’s work. His productions are more than sonically appealing, because for Jack, “Music is therapy”. Jack is unique in many ways. This 24 year-old singer, musician, and producer has always been drawn to jazz, R&B, soul, and folk from an early age. During Jack's childhood, he was exposed to a rich and eclectic taste in music, composition, and art.
At age 14 Jack started taking his art seriously, having his artwork exhibited in the Scottish Parliament, where Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland praised his work for expressing an anti-hate crime message. This inspired Jack to follow his intuition even further, developing his own musical background from which he taught himself piano, guitar, bass, and harmonica. He deliberately composes with any sound or instrumentation available, a habit and branding that he has carried with him throughout his career.
This outspoken 25-year-old artist has always been drawn to music and the arts. Jack was exposed to painting, acting, and composition at a young age. Jack creates compositions that are earthy, expressive and tell stories of his own experiences of the marginalized individuals often pushed aside by society. Most of his productions are created in his home studio in Glasgow, using the surrounding landscapes as his muse. Each passionate composition reveals fundamental human emotions that are titled to a person’s life such as childhood, love, and hardships.
Jack values his community. He volunteers with Regen FX youth work project, which helps disadvantaged children acquire independence via creative activities and youth work. In 2020, Jack went on to develop his writing skills with singer-songwriter group Emma Nailen and the Third Wheel. In 2022 for a BBC track, Jack worked closely with jazz musicians from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Jack currently lives in Glasgow, Scotland.
